ESRM311/CFR507 is designed to get students into the field to learn
about Seattle area soils, properties, uses and abuses. We start by
learning about how soil was formed in the region and learning the
repeatable pattern of soil types in the landscape. We learn about soil
properties, and how those properties limit some reasonable land uses.
We
will see examples of uses that do not consider limitations of some
soils
and sites and the sometimes disasterous results.
